Paul holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Finance and a Diploma in Urban Land Economics from the University of British Columbia. After receiving his degree Paul worked for the corporate banking sector in Vancouver. For the past 26 years, he has worked in the field of business finance, senior management, corporate leadership, and economic development. Over his career, Paul has been involved in a number of partnerships involving private sector and not-for-profit agencies. He has also provided executive and regional director services to provincial and national organizations. Paul has authored reports and studies that encompass workforce development, feasibility assessments, immigration strategies, economic development tactics, and business competitiveness.
Paul is a recipient of the Don McMillan Award for outstanding contribution to community development and has been a guest speaker at various events, and national and international conferences.
Paul has extensive experience in conducting comprehensive research analysis involving local, national, and international jurisdictions. As a project manager, he has conducted focus group sessions across broad geographic regions in addition to designing telephone and web surveys targeted at the business community. Paul’s past clients include provincial associations, corporations, non-for-profit agencies, Credit Unions, and all levels of government (local, provincial, and federal).
Paul has over 20 years of experience managing complex organizations, working as the Executive Director of a Business Development Centre and two Community Futures Offices. Most recently he acted as the interim Executive Director for the provincial association of 34 Community Futures offices in BC. He has also been the BC Regional Director for GO Productivity. Paul has also been a Project Manager on several large projects for the BC Chamber of Commerce.
Paul is a skilled facilitator working with small to large groups. He regularly utilizes the Moderation Method to ensure effective involvement by all participants. Clients retain Paul’s facilitation services to develop their strategic plans, lead working group meetings, and moderate special events.
Both from a business and community context, Paul has led a variety of engagement processes. He has been trusted to engage with clients’ key associates at the highest level of the organization. Past clients range from police boards, business associations, all levels of government, non-profit organizations, and private sector companies.
Paul has guided change management training in support of operational excellence programs for large manufacturing companies. He also worked with small to medium-sized firms to help establish productivity and competitiveness strategies.
